Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is trying to achieve 5-star ratings in Swachh Bharat scorecard.
In its attempts, the GHMC is disconnecting water connections of people who are damaging the roads and littering public places.
On Friday, the GHMC commissioner, M Dana Kishore had inspected Khairtabad Zone and instructed officials to disconnect the connection of the people who litter the public place.
GHMC zonal commissioner of Khairtabad, Md Musharraf Ali said, around seven lakh fines have been imposed in Khairtabad zone in two weeks.
Inspections were also conducted in Puranapul, Jiyaguda and in some parts of Old City.
According to a report published in TOI, the civic body declared that they are collecting 5,280 metric tons of waste every day. “Of the waste collected, we will convert 2,510 metric tons of waste into manure.
GHMC is also stocking dry waste for production of electricity once the Jawaharnagar plant is ready,” read a GHMC statement.
