Kabul, November 22: Hizb-e-Islami chief Gulbuddin Hekmatyar claims responsibility for Saturday’s rocket attack near the luxury Serena Hotel in Kabul.
Hekmatyar took responsibility for the Saturday attack in an interview with local media outlets, IRIB reported.
Despite conflicting casualty reports, Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman Zamary Bashary confirmed that four people were injured in the rocket attack near a luxury hotel in the center of the capital Kabul.
Bashary added that two women and one Afghan police officer were among those wounded by the attack that hit the compound wall surrounding the Serena Hotel.
The heavily guarded Serena regularly houses visiting diplomats, officials and international workers. It has been the target of attacks before, most recently in late October when a rocket slammed into a courtyard.
Three weeks ago, rockets fired at the hotel forced more than 100 people into an underground bunker for safety.
In January 2008, several Taliban gunmen stormed the hotel, which is near the presidential palace, killing six people including a Norwegian journalist.
