According to a report in The Hindu, who spoke to some of the victims of Nowhera Shaik’s money cheating, who hail from Darjeeling, Srinagar,and Jamnagar in Gujrat.
The majority of the victims are Muslims who fell for her slogan, ‘ interest-free world’ and many of them are residents of Middle East.
Sakeena Parveen who resides in Darjeeling said, “I sold all my jewellery to invest in this group as I was promised to get double the amount of my investment in just 15 months.”
She had invested Rs 7 lakh and wanted to use that returns for the higher education of her son.
Another tale of heera group victim
Ikramullah, who is from Srinagar also invested in Heera Group on the advice of his relatives.
They told, they also had invested and got some good returns. “Over 11 months, I invested Rs. 24.5 lakh, which was all I had from my retirement corpus and I feel that death would have been better for me,” said Ikramullah over the phone.
Another investor from Jamnagar of Gujrat who is a single mother and has invested Rs 2.5 lakh of her savings from Zakat she earned.
She said, “I’m the only person to take care of my bed-ridden parents and two small children.”
Ms Shaik told the police that the group had more than 2 lakh investors with nearly Rs 1000 crore turnover, but she refuses to furnish the details.
