Heavy security arrangements made at Ambaji temple

Banaskantha, September 03: Tight security arrangements have been made at the Ambaji temple here in anticipation of huge turnout of devotees for ‘Bhadarvi Poonam’ fair tomorrow, district police officials said.

The fair is held at Ambaji temple every year during the ‘Bhadar’ month of the Hindu calender and concludes on the full-moon day of the month.

Number of visitors is likely to exceed the average of 20 lakh that usually throng the temple town every year, District Superintendent of Police Harikrishna Patel said.

“Close Circuit Cameras have been fitted in almost all hotels and inns besides huge deployment of police and para-military personnel for the final day of the fair,” Patel told PTI.

“A bomb disposal squad and dog squad have also been pressed in to service at Ambaji temple,” Patel said.

Around 22 additional CCTV cameras have been setup at all important places including state transport bus-stands and other public places, the SP said.

“All three gates of the temple have been fitted with the CCTV cameras. At every one km distance we have special help centres providing round the clock service to pilgrims,” he said. .
