Heavy rains lash several parts of HP

Shimla, August 12: Heavy rains lashed Mandi, Kangra and Hamirpur areas of Himachal Pradesh today as monsoons remained active in the hill state since Wednesday evening.

The rains covered up two per cent deficit and on an average 525 mm of rains was recorded against normal rainfall of 517.5 mm, local MeT office sources said.

Shimla received 68 mm of rains till this morning while Sundernagar and Dharamsala had 104.4 mm and 58.4 mm of rains respectively.

Dehra Gopipur in Kangra district was the wettest place in the region with 128 mm of rains while Sujanpur Tira, Mandi and Gohar had 125 mm, 98 mm and 92 mm rains.

Inspite of heavy rains in the region, maximum temperatures recorded marginal increase or remained steady but these were 2-3 degree below normal.
