Heavy rains continue to lash the financial capital, affecting the normal life and the train services on the central line on Friday.

According to reports, heavy downpour has hit the movement of trains on the central line and several trains are reported to be running late.

The Met department has predicted that the heavy downpour, which began in Mumbai on Tuesday, will continue in the days to come.

Heavy rains lashed Mumbai and the adjoining areas on Wednesday and Thursday hitting normal life.

According to VK Rajeev, director (weather forecast), IMD-Mumbai, a low pressure area over Odisha that has strengthened the westerly winds coupled with the strengthening of the offshore trough stretching from the Gujarat coast to the Kerala coast are causing the heavy rainfall.

There are likely to be heavy showers over the whole Konkan and Goa region, Rajeev added.

On Wednesday, one person was killed and two others were injured when heavy rains triggered a landslide on a hillock in central Mumbai.
