Hyderabad, September 01: Even as moderate to rather heavy rains have been forecast for tomorrow in Andhra Pradesh, heavy rains lashed the state capital inundating several low lying areas last night.
The state capital received 10 cm of rainfall from midnight till 0830 am this morning.
Rain water entered into nearly 20 low lying areas including some housing colonies causing hardship to the people, officials said.
Over 500 labourers with 45 pumps and tractors were pressed into service by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) authorities who drained out water from submerged colonies and low lying areas, official sources said.
Areas inundated include Nagamaiah Kunta, Acchaiah Nagar, Padma colony, Premnagar, Bapujinagar, Bilal nagar, Bhavani nagar, Ahmed nagar, Jawaharnagar, Sindhi colony, Bapubagh colony, Krishna nagar, Model house, Sabja colony, Nawab sahed Kunta, Rehmat nagar, Akbar nagar and Jamal colony.
