Twelve persons sustained injuries due to the heavy downpour and gales that struck Hyderabad City for one hour on Friday. The incident took place at Hafizbaba Nagar colony in Kanchanbhag when the metal roof sheets fell on them at a building which was under construction.
Heavy rain lashed at several places in city with gales at BN Reddy Nagar, Meerpet, Malakpet, Dilsukh Nagar, LB Nagar, Vanasthalipuram, Hayathnagar, Nagole, Uppal, Habsiguda, Mallapur, Tarnaka, Osmania University, Lalaguda, ECIL, Kapra, Sainikpuri and Charlapally areas. The rain lasted for one hour and huge water on the roads made it difficult for the vehicles to move. Due to this unexpected heavy rain, people suffered in heavy traffic.
In ECIL, heavy rain along with gales affected power supply and fall of two transformers and three electrical poles. The electricity department stopped power supply due to fall of poles and transformers.
In Mahabub Nagar district, heavy rain lashed Achhampet and due to heavy rain, ground nut stocks were drenched in the local market yard. (NSS)
