Bengaluru: Heavy rains will occur in coastal districts, south interior and central areas (Malnad) of Karnataka in the next 24 hours as the monsoon remains vigorous, the Met office said on Saturday.
“Heavy and widespread rains will lash Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts on the west coast and moderate in southern districts and the Western Ghats in Malnad region,” said a Met official, citing weather bulletin for the day.
Strong winds from westerly direction, with speed reaching 45-55 kmph will blow along and off the coast.
Forecast for Bengaluru and neighbourhood till Sunday is cloudy sky, with one or two spells of light rain.
“Surface winds, however, will be strong and gusty at times while maximum and minimum temperatures will be 27 and 20 degree Celsius,” the official said.
Rainfall occurred at most places on Friday in the coastal region, at many places in south interior and at a few places over north interior areas of the state.
Mangaluru recorded 4 cm rain, fallowed by 3cm each at Mudubidre, Mani, Dharmasthala and Udupi and two each at Puttur, Karkala, Kundapur, Madapura, Jayapura and Sakleshpura in Hassan district.
