Chennai, November 07: Heavy rains continued to lash most parts of Tamil Nadu with north east monsoon, which brings bulk of rainfall to the state, being active over the state. Red Hills near here recorded a maximum of 15 cm rain today, followed by Cuddalore at 11 cm, Met officials said.
The observatory at Nungambakkam in the city recorded 10 cm rainfall, they said, adding that the north east monsoon is active over the state. According to Met office, rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and at many places over interior Tamil Nadu tomorrow.
Chennai and neighbourhood areas are likely to be cloudy with few spells of shower or thundershowers, heavy at times, the Met office said. Meanwhile, low-lying parts of the city remained inundated, with vehicles moving at snail”s pace in many parts affected by water-logging.
A total of 13 rain-related deaths were reported from across the state since October 27, police said, adding most of them were due to wall and roof collapses.
