Heavy rain in T likely

Hyderabad, July 04: Heavy rain has been forecast over many parts of Telangana, while Coastal Andhra Pradesh is likely to receive isolated rain in the next 24 hours.

Hyderabad Meteorological Department officials said a low pressure area had formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal near Orissa and under its influence moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers may occur at many places in Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal and Khammam in the Telangana region and Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam in Coastal Andhra.

Light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely at a few places in Rayalaseema and in the remaining districts of Coastal Andhra and Telangana in the next 24 hours.

Day temperature in the twin cities is expected to decline over the next five days.

Experiencing heavy rain in the last 24 hours were the following stations: Parvathipuram (Vizianagaram dist) 11 cm, Sultanabad (Karimnagar dist) 9 and Palasa (Srikakulam dist) 7.

Also receiving good rain were Amalapuram (East Godavari dist) 5, Jagitiyal (Karimnagar dist), Madnoor (Nizamabad dist), Mancherial and Nirmal (both Adilabad dist) 4 each, Ramagundam, Metpalli (Karimnagar dist), Narayanakhed (Medak dist), Sirpur (Adilabad dist), Tekkali (Srikakulam dist) 3 each, Kalingapatnam 2 and Adilabad, Mahabubnagar, Banswada and Nizamsagar (both Nizamabad dist), Bobbili, Komarada & Salur (all Vizianagaram dist), Dowlaiswaram (East Godavari dist), Koyyalagudem and Polavaram (both West Godavari dist), Palakonda, Patapatnam and Veeraghattam (all Srikakulam dist), Utnoor (Adilabad dist), Wanaparthy (Mahabubnagar dist) one each.

CITY FORECAST: MeT officials said day temperatures in the twin cities would come down in the next five days under the cloud cover.

Spells of rain and thundershowers have been forecast, and maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 26 and 22 degrees Celsius respectively. Today’s temperature was 26.8 degrees Celsius.

In next five days, rainfall in the twin cities is likely to be as given in the table.
