Heavy rain forecast in Tamil Nadu

Chennai: Heavy rain has been forecast in north and other parts of Tamil Nadu.

Chennai Met office said well marked low pressure area was likely to move towards northwest direction on Tuesday.

This would result in heavy rain in most parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

The unseasonal rain had brought some respite from scorching heat in Tamil Nadu.

The Met office forecast heavy rain in coastal and northern parts of the state.

There were heavy rain in Nagapattinam Cuddalore and isolated rain in Tiruchirapalli Thanjavur and Pudukottai last night.

Heavy rain had disrupted voting process yesterday in many places as there were power cuts.

The Met office also issued warning that squally winds would hit Tamil Nadu coast at a speed of 50 to 70 kilometre per hour.

Fishermen were advised not to venture out into the sea off the coast of Tamil Nadu.

In Nagapattinam Port, warning signal three has been hoisted. (ANI)
