Kedidja, 29-year-old, a heavily pregnant has been hospitalised in France after being attacked by two men on Tuesday morning. She is the nine-months-pregnant woman who is due to give birth in mid-April.
She suffered the attack only because she was wearing the hijab or Muslim headscarf.
As she dropped her two children off at school in the French city of Toulouse, one of the attackers hit her several times and threw her to the ground, according to La Depeche reports.
One of them take hold of her hair and pulled at her veil while yelling “none of that here”, reportedly threatened to kill her and then fled the scene.
She is now on the road to recovery and her unborn baby is believed to be safe and sound.
33-year-old Munir, her husband described the unpleasant incident as an “Islamophobic act”.
“My wife had just put our two daughters to school, one in kindergarten and one in elementary school. “Upon leaving, she met two young men. One of them grabbed her hair, pulled on her veil and insulted her.
“After the final few blows and a some more insults – including death threats – the two boys ran away, leaving her extremely shocked.”
Munir described himself and his wife as “Muslims and French”, and said the men were offended by the hijab, albeit she was clothed conventionally in jacket and a tracksuit bottoms.
Christophe Borgel, their local MP was outraged after hearing about the attack and said that it was “without a doubt” racially provoked.
Borgel said: “I was shocked to learn of this attack. This French woman of Muslim faith was attacked because she was wearing the traditional headscarf.
“France does not tolerate any kind of racist attack; France will not tolerate any kind of aggression based on the religion of one of its citizens. “I condemn this act of extreme cowardice and inhumanity in the strongest terms.”
In June 2013, a similar incident happened in France when a pregnant Muslim woman was physically attacked by two “skinheads” in the suburbs of Paris for wearing an Islamic face veil and unfortunately suffered a miscarriage.
Since the Charlie Hebdo attacks,in the two weeks subsequent to the shootings, there were 128 anti-Muslim incidents recorded, which is almost the same number as in the whole of 2014.
