Heated Arguments Between Naga, Aruna in Assembly

BJP senior leader Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy’s remarks against Congress party resulted in heated argument between him and Minister from his district DK Aruna, and led to personal criticism.

Participating in the debate on Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill-2013 in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, Nagam said that the Congress party leaders from Kasu Brahmananda Reddy to present Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy were deceiving the Telangana region. Government Chief Whip Gandra Venkatramana Reddy objected to Nagam’s remark at one stage, terming Kiran Kumar Reddy as ‘Kirikiri Reddy’. But the T-TDP leader supported Nagam.

Continuing his speech, Nagam targeted the Congress party praising BJP. At this juncture, Minister Aruna pointed out that Nagam should not forget the fact that the Congress party itself was creating the Telangana State, and alleged that the BJP, which failed to fulfill its own assurance ‘one vote-two states’ as per Kakinada Resolution on Telangana, has no right to criticize the Congress party. She also alleged that Nagam did nothing to Mahabubnagar district as he claimed.

Retorting to it, Nagam lashed out at Aruna alleging that she did nothing to the district. He allotted water to RDS farmers through link canal from Jurala project.

Once again countering Nagam, Aruna said that Nagam participated in Telangana Movement only after receiving ‘hot’ treatment in the hands of Osmania University students. She said that Nagam has no right to speak on Rajoli Diversion Scheme (RDS) as the latter was the reason for the battle between the farmers of Kurnool and Mahabubnagar district. She alleged that Nagam, who failed to close the RDS Sluices, provided water through link canal and alleged that Nagam did injustice as a Minister, which has no words to describe.

Stating that he has taken an oath in the beginning of his speech that he will speak only truth, he challenged Aruna, who is presently Minister, to close the RDS Sluices now. Nagam continued his speech on the Bill and completed it within minutes. (NSS)
