Heat wave woes: Govt. schools to be closed from Monday in West Bengal

Kolkata : With the Meteorological Department issuing a heat wave warning for Kolkata and other district of West Bengal, the state government today announced to shut down government schools from Monday onwards.

The mercury has been soaring in the state and it has taken its toll with a middle aged man dying in Kolkata.

According to Alipore Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature today was 40 degrees Celsius as recorded around 2:30 p.m.

Earlier, the Madhya Pradesh education department issued a direction asking all schools to be shut down by 1 pm to save the students from the scorching afternoon sun. (ANI)
