Heat wave claims 81 lives in Telangana today

At least 81 persons were killed due to heat wave conditions in Telangana State in a single day on Saturday, till 4 PM.

According to sources, maximum deaths were reported from Warangal district with 25 casualties, followed by 17 in Nalgonda, 12 in Karimnagar, 9 in Khammam, 6 in Adilabad, 5 in Mahabubnagar, 4 in Medak, two in Nizamabad and one in Ranga Reddy district.

The highest temperature of 48 degrees Celsius was recorded in Khammam district. This was history’s highest temperature as 47.2 degrees Celsius was recorded about 68 years ago in 1947. (INN)
