More than 150 unclaimed putrefying bodies are lying in Osmania Hospital morgue and are becoming health hazard to the patients arriving at the hospital for treatment. The bodies leave the whole surrounding stinking. GHMC has decided to call NGOs and other agencies’ attention to take initiative to perform funeral rites of the dead bodies.
The stench from decomposing bodies has made the whole area stinking. Generally the last rites of the bodies need to be performed within three days of their death. But according to GHMC officials several unclaimed and unidentified bodies lie in the mortuary of Osmania Hospital.
It is said that the rotting corpses lay there for the past three months. It must be recalled that after mounting pressure from residents who complained of foul smell emanating from the crematorium, GHMC has shut down two modern electric crematoria at Amberpet.
It must be noted that the last rites of Muslim bodies is being performed by Siasat daily through Millat fund and more than 1500 Muslim bodies have been buried as per Islamic rituals so far.
