Health official, son, booked for murder in Kanpur

Lucknow, July 21: Deputy Chief Medical Officer (DCMO), Krishnadev Raj Srivastava and his son Anubhav have been booked for the murder of 35-year-old Rajendra Kumar.

Rajendra’s body was found in his Pashupati Nagar residence on Monday morning. Postmortem confirmed that the death was caused by a head injury.

On the complaint made by Kumar’s father Krishna Kumar, a case of murder has been registered at Naubasta police station against Srivastava, who is currently posted at Allahabad, and his son Anubhav.

“My son had been acquainted with Srivastava for past four years and they met frequently,” Kumar told reporters.

According to him, Rajendra had returned from the DCMO’s Basant Vihar residence in an inebriated condition on Sunday night. “On Monday morning, we found his room locked from the inside,” Kumar said.

The door was broken and the family was shocked to find Rajendra’s body on the floor.

“We strongly believe Srivastava and Anubhav had thrashed my son, which led to his death,” Kumar said.

Harpal Singh, the Station Officer of Naubasta, said: “Srivastava left for Kanpur on Monday morning. When contacted over phone, he denied having any role in Raju’s murder.”

He admitted that Raju was at his home on Sunday, but left after a few drinks, Singh added. Investigations are on.
