Chennai, November 12: In order to ensure equitable distribution of resources, the Centre is investing more in backward areas, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said here today.
“It is necessary to ensure more equitable distribution of resources so that poor and marginalised people are provided greater attention in matter of accessing health services,” Azad said at a National Rural Health Mission review meeting.
The health ministry is investing more in backward areas and in places which have no access to health care due to difficult terrain, he said.
The minister also urged the state governments to focus on giving priority to the needy while taking up upgrading and strengthening of health infrastructure in their respective regions.
