Health cards, DBR houses for sanitary workers: KTR

Municipal Administration Minister K Tarakarama Rao today said the sanitary workers will get health cards soon as the State government has decided to take a decision to provide them with ESI and PF facility.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Tuesday, KTR said all eligible sanitary workers will get housing facility too under Double Bed Room House scheme. At a meeting with officials and association of sanitation workers here, KTR warned that he would suspend municipal commissioners and officers concerned for not taking work from the sanitary workers, who are supposed to discharge their duties.

The minister also asked the associations of sanitary workers to inform him about their problems like forced to work at the houses of the officials. “This is totally wrong to serve at their homes and I will suspend them on getting information”, the minister warned.

On hearing to their plea on SC direction, he asked the officials to take steps for providing them with health cards and settle the issue of ESI and PF facility. The minister vowed to provide all protection and increase salaries of the sanitary workers. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has increased their salaries of all workers and sanitary workers and compared the latter with gods for keeping the premises clean, he said. KTR sought a report on the budgetary burden if a decision taken on salary hike and ESI and PF implementation for sanitary workers.
