Health administration during Asafiya period was exemplary for the entire world

A colloquium was organized by Telangana Resource Center under the Chairmanship of Mr. M. Ved Kumar, Chairman of the Resource Centre. The participants were Dr. A. Gopal Kishan, former superintendent of Osmania General Hospital, Dr. D. Raja Reddy former Director of Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr. A.P. Ranga Rao, Chirman, Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital, Dr. B. Ramesh, President, Telangana Govt. Doctors’ Association, Dr. D. Ramakishan, Secretary General Secretary of Telangana Govt. Doctors’ Association, Dr. D. Ramakrishan, Secretary General of Telangana Govt. Doctors’ Association of Gandhi Medical College, Dr. Ramesh Dasaram Chairman, TPNA and Dr. T. Srinivas President of Resource Centre. Mr. M. Ved Kumar, in his presidential address highlighted the damage done to the health administration of the Nizam the Andhra capitalists.

He told that the health administration of the Nizam was exemplary in the entire world. During this period, many good hospitals were setup and medicines used to be distributed free. He pointed out that the old Unani Shifa Khana (Hospital) near Darul-Shifa had 100 beds which used to facilitate people.

He told that Unani Hospital at Charminar, NIMS are the hospitals which serve the people. These hospitals were sabotaged by the Andhra capitalists.

He thanked the participants of the colloquium and said that the purpose of organizing such meetings is to highlight the atrocities meted out to the people of Telangana by Andhra rulers.

He informed that the proceedings of these colloquiums are being published in the form of a book. Giving concrete examples, Dr. A. Gopalakishan alleged that the Andhra capitalists exploited the health system. The other speakers blamed the Govt. that in order to destroy Govt. hospitals, private and corporate hospitals were promoted.

The colloquium started with the observance of two minutes silence on the suicides committed by more than 800 students for the cause of Telangana state.
