Kannur, February 01: A government school headmaster was arrested today on the charge of sexually harassing a 11-year-old girl student in the district.
The 48-year-old headmaster of Government Upper Primary School in Karyad was arrested following a complaint by Parent Teacher Association President N P Anwar, police said.
The girl had told her parents that she had been subjected to sexual harassment by the headmaster over the last few months. As the issue came to the fore, several parents came out with similar complaints against the headmaster, the in-charge of the school for last two years, they said.
He was produced before a local court this evening and remanded in 14 days judicial custody, police said. A medical examination of the girl was conducted yesterday.
