Hyderabad: Students Federation of India (SFI) and Ambedkar Students Association (ASA) led ‘Alliance for Social Justice’ (ASJ) defeated RSS backed Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in all central panel posts of students union elections at Hyderabad Central University.
According to the news published in NDTV, ASJ won all the central panel posts including President, Vice President, General Secretary, Joint Secretary, Sports Secretary and Cultural Secretary.
Ph.D. scholar from Regional Studies, Sreerag Poickadan who won the post of president, defeated K. Palsaniya of ABVP-OBCA alliance and Anju Rao of NSUI.
It is also reported that Lunavath Naresh is elected as Vice President, Arif Ahammed as General Secretary, Muhammed Ashique NP as Joint Secretary, Lolam Sravan Kumar as Sports Secretary and Gundeti Abhishek as Cultural Secretary.
Talking about the results of the elections, one of the student activists from HCU said that there is a major change in campus politics as the central panel has three Dalits, two Muslims and an Adivasi.
It may be mentioned that SFI and ASA have formed ASJ to contest elections against RSS backed ABVP and Indian National Congress’s NSUI.
In PG GSCASH elections, ASA alliance defeated ABVP. Last year, this seat was won by ABVP.

It may be noted that in recently held students union elections in JNU, DU, Rajasthan Univesity and Gauhati University, Anti-ABVP students’ organizations and alliances have defeated RSS-backed ABVP.
