HCU, OU incidents rock Assembly

Hyderabad, March 26 (NSS): The Congress and MIM members created a ruckus and derailed the proceedings in the Telangana State Assembly over the Hyderabad Central University and Osmania University affairs forcing the House to be repeatedly adjourned on Saturday.

The House, which assembled after three-day holiday, witnessed noisy scenes and slogan chanting as the Congress and MIM members, who had tabled separate adjournment motions on the issue insisted for taking up their motions first, while Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy, who was in the chair, did not yield to their requests firmly stating that the question hour should be completed first and other matters would be taken up later as was decided in the BAC meeting.

After the pell-mell continued unabatedly with the Congress members even storming into the well of the House, the Deputy Speaker adjourned the House twice. When Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao, who came to the House when it assembled after two adjournments, tried to make both the Congress and MIM members to see reason and participate in the discussion on the demands of the Home Department when the HCU and OU issues could be raised and debated. However, when the protesting Opposition members remained relentless, the House was adjourned for the third time.
As a matter of fact, at one stage the MIM Floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi even entered into heated argument with the Chief Minister when the latter tried to intervene and prevail upon the agitating members to listen to his suggestion. An exasperated Chief Minister even lost his cool and reminded the MIM leader that as the Leader of the House (KCR) he has every right to intervene and cannot be prevented from doing so.
