HCS demands action against Sangareddy MLA

The Hyderabad Civil Society on Monday demanded stern action Government Whip and Sangareddy MLA T Japaprakash Reddy alias Jagga Reddy for his comments against Congress MP G Vivek.

Addressing a press conference at Somajiguda Press Club here, Hyderabad Civil Society representatives – Retired IAS Dr Hasnuddin Ahmed, Managing Editor Siasat Daily Zaheeruddin Ali Khan, OPCLC’s CL Yadigiri, OUJAC spokesperson M Kishank and others alleged that Jagga Reddy made some objectionable comments using unparliamentary language against Congress MP Vivek. Therefore, they demanded that the Sangareddy MLA be booked under the SC, ST Attrocities (Prevention) Act.

They also alleged that Jagga Reddy played a key role in engineering communal riots in Sangreddy and have been harassing Muslim youth in his constituency. They said a research scholar of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Sharib Ali, was harassed by the police following a baseless complaint of Jagga Reddy. They said Sharib Ali came to Hyderabad to study the terror-related cases.

Further, the Society demanded that the State Government address the issue of communal bias among the Andhra Pradesh Police to reinstate the trust of the Muslim community in the organs of the State. They said legal action should be initiated against the police officials who implicated innocent youth in Mecca Masjid blast case, fabricated evidence and registered false cases of Waging War against the State against them. They said action should be taken against the guilty police officials as recommended by the National Commission for Minorities to ensure that justice done.
