New Delhi, April 17: In a dowry death case, the Delhi High Court has upheld the life sentence to a man by a trial court for torturing and harassing his wife, who died nearly two decades ago.
The court also upheld the trial court’s order of seven years jail to the victim’s mother-in-law for harassing her.
A division bench of justices B D Ahmed and Manmohan Singh, in a recent judgement, upheld the May 1997 order convicting the mother and son for harassing and beating up Siksha, who died unnaturally in 1992.
“It is clear the prosecution has been able to establish that there were clear demands for dowry which had also been met (by the victim’s parents) from time to time. However, the demands did not stop.
