Hyderabad, June 13: Justice VVS Rao of the AP High Court on Friday suspended an order of the state government seeking reinstatement of the suspended sarpanch. Narsa Goud, sarpanch of Gambirraopet gram panchayat in Karimnagar district was placed under suspension on charges of corruption by the District Collector.
The sarpanch filed an appeal before the government and obtained a stay order. The government, however, dismissed his appeal holding that there was no reason for it to interfere with the order of the collector. The sarpanch filed a review application before the government in which the government interfered with the order of suspention.
K Anjeneyulu, a resident of the village filed the present writ petition contending that the government had no power to review its order and therefore the order of the government is without jurisdiction. Justice VVS Rao found prima facie that the view canvassed was correct and accordingly suspended the order of the state government.
