The high court on Monday stayed the transport department’s decision to allow registration of 20,000 new autos in Hyderabad just days after permitting 3800 autos. The bench comprising acting Chief Justice P C Ghose and Justice Vilas V Afzulpurkar made this interim order after hearing a petition by advocate S Raju who challenged the GO issued on September 5 in this regard.
According to the petitioner, the GO by the transport department allowing 20,000 new autos within the GHMC limits was done without proper application of mind and ran contrary to the undertaking given to the court . The bench stated that the order was prima facie contrary to its undertaking.
