Cuttack (Orissa), July 15: The Orissa High Court today restrained state vigilance sleuths from arresting an IAS officer, accused in the multi-crore coal scam, till August 2.
Srikant Prusty has been booked by the anti-corruption wing of the state police under criminal charges in the multi-crore subsidised coal scam.
Prusty was the general manager of Orissa Small Industries Corporation (OSIC) during whose tenure the irregularities in the corporation surfaced.
A single judge bench of Justice B P Ray gave interim relief to Prusty after adjudicating over his anticipatory bail.
Prusty, currently posted as a secretary in school and mass education department, told the court that he had no indulgence in corrupt practises.
He claimed to have made recommendations for grant of subsidised coal to farms on the basis of reports submitted by his subordinates.
