New Delhi, October 14: The Delhi High Court today imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on a man for not paying monthly rent to the landlord for three years and filing frivolous cases in the court.
“Such an unscrupulous person who takes property on lease and later claims ownership of the same and then comes up with a cock and bull story just to retain the property, should be dealt with heavy hands….,” Justice V B Gupta said while rejecting a petition filed by Madhu Sudan against a lower court order asking him to pay the monthly rent fixed at the rate of Rs 20,000 to the landlord.
“The appellant(Madhu Sudan) is enjoying the property without paying any rent/occupational charges since October 2006 and has no intention to pay the same,” said Justice Gupta and directed the tenant to deposit the amount with the trial court within a month.
