Mumbai, March 19: The Bombay High Court today gave Pune police further three weeks to file investigation report in a case in which Pune-based Congress corporator Deepak Mankar and his brother Shivaji Mankar are among the accused.
Some 50 goons, allegedly sent by Mankars, ransacked the house of Poornima Prabhu in Shivajinagar area of Pune on December 29, 2008. Her brother, Rajiv Prabhu, was badly beaten up, and had to be hospitalised.
However, police recorded a complaint of assault against Prabhus too, alongwith the complaint filed by Prabhus against Mankar and others.
Later, senior Police Inspector Rahul Yewale was suspended when there was a hue and cry about the case.
Prabhus allege that Yewale, sub-inspector Sandip Ghorpade and several other policemen were present when their house was attacked, but did nothing to stop it.
