HC seeks personal affidavit from Amar Singh

Allahabad, December 04: The Allahabad High Court today directed Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh to file a personal affidavit tomorrow in connection with a petition filed by him challenging the FIR lodged in Kanpur charging him with financial fraud to the tune of Rs 500 crore.

The order was passed by a Division Bench comprising Justice Yatindra Singh and Justice S K Tripathi following certain objections raised by the counsel of Shivakant Tripathi, the complainant in the FIR lodged at Babupurwa police station against the SP leader.

Appearing on behalf of Tripathi, senior advocate Gopal Chaturvedi had challenged Singh’s affidavit on the ground that it was signed by the “pairokar” and not the petitioner himself.

Agreeing with the argument, the court ordered that Singh file his personal affidavit and fixed December 5, 2009 as the next date of hearing in the case.
