The Hyderabad High Court on Monday reminded the Telangana government about its earlier directives regarding the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in the city. It directed the government to ensure that the height of the Ganapathy idols should not exceed 15 feet.
Resuming the hearing in the petition to stall Ganesh immersion in the Hussainsagar, the court reminded the government about the aspects of pollution, chemical colour usage . The court sought a report from the government on the steps it had taken about the court directives. It also put the condition that the idol height should not exceed 15 ft.
Meanwhile, the Khairatabad Utsav Committee decided to reduce the height of this year’s Ganesh idol to 47 ft, one foot less than last year. (INN)
