Andhra Pradesh High Court today rejected the petition filed by YSR Congress party President YS Jaganmohan Reddy seeking exemption from appearing before the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) authorities.
In its order, the court also directed the CBI authorities to deal the issue as per the Criminal Procedure Code.
The prosecution submitted to the court that they served notice on Kadapa MP Jagan to appear before the investigating agency on May 25 as part of the probe into his ill-gotten assets case.
The CBI counsel said they had to summon Jagan On May 25 to interrogate him in the case as the judicial custody of other accused Nimmagadda Prasad and Brahmnanda Reddy would be expiring on May 27.
Earlier in the day, Jagan’s defence counsel moved a ‘Lunch Motion ‘ seeking exemption from personal appearance before the CBI till June 15 in view of the June 12 by-poll election campaigning in the state.
