HC rejects bail petition of Sirish Bharadwaj

Hyderabad, April 07: Justice B Seshasayana Reddy of the AP High court today rejected the anticipatory bail petition filed by Sirish Bharadwaj, son-in-law of PRP leader and cine actor Chiranjeevi.

The application comes in light of a complaint by Sirisha she was a victim of dowry harassment by the petitioner and his mother. The runaway marriage between Srija, daughter of the matinee idol and Sirish had made big news two years ago. The love story however

turned sour with the girl complaining she was harassed for dowry.

The petitioner contended that charges against him were baseless and an abuse of provisions of the law. On the other hand, the investigative agency would rely on the statement of complainant she was being harassed ever since she effected transfer of certain immoveable properties from her name. She complained that matters got worse after she was not allowed to attend the functions in connection with wedding of her cousin and film star Allu Arjun.

Criminal proceedings against Maoist leader quashed

Justice Raja Elango today quashed criminal proceedings against Pottula Suresh, a leader of the Reorganisation Committee, a breakaway group of PWG. He is alleged to be involved in over 15 criminal cases. It was also believed he was part of the ‘private army’ of Paritala Ravi. He is also one of the accused in the murder of the sarpanch of CK Pally village in Anantapur district. Earlier all the accused in the murder case were acquitted. He could not be prosecuted because he was missing but was apprehended in November in Surat. Suresh pointed out since the disposition of the prosecution was disbelieved before, proceeding with the prosecution did not arise.
