HC refuses to stay GHMC polls

Hyderabad, November 03: A division bench of the AP High Court comprising Justice A Gopala Reddy and S Govinda Rajulu on Monday refused to stay the forthcoming GHMC elections.

As reported earlier, two writ petitions were filed challenging the recent Government ordinance doing away with the need to identify the creamy layer while providing reservations for backward classes in the wards for the forthcoming elections.

The bench speaking through Justice Gopala Reddy pointed out that the Court would not interfere with the election process once the notification is issued. The bench also directed the matter to be listed along with a batch of cases questioning various aspects of the conduct of the forthcoming elections.
