Mumbai, April 26: The Bombay High Court refused to pass any directions on a petition filed by a bomb blast convict, seeking permission to sell his kidney to pay legal expenses.
Haneef Sayed, who was given death sentence for planning and executing the Gateway of India and Zaveri Bazar blasts of 2003, had filed this petition with the bizarre plea.
Haneef, in a letter to his lawyer S Kunjuraman, said that he was not able to pay lawyers their legal fees and wanted to sell his kidney.
The division bench of Justices D B Bhosale and A R Joshi said that court can not give any direction on this.
Haneef, his wife Fehmida (45) and one Ashrat Ansari, (33) were convicted and sentenced to death by a special Prevention of terrorism Activities (Pota) Act court in August last year.
