The Andhra Pradesh High Court today declined to order a probe by Central Bureau of Investion (CBI) into the liquor Syndicate scam as the court felt the Anti-Corruption Bureau( ACB ) investigation at present was going on well.
A Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice Madan B Lokur and Mr Justice P V Sanjay Kumar said to this affect after hearing a petition filed by O.M.Debara requesting the court to monitor the investigation into the liquor syndicates. Earlier, the High Court had directed the ACB to submit a report in a sealed cover on the irregularities that surfaced in the liquor scam.
Complying with the directions of the Court, the ACB had on March 19 submitted a report about the ongoing investigation into the alleged liquor scam. The Bench ordered the ACB to submit the further status report on the investigation by April 16 and adjourned the case.
The petitioner had contended that several public servants, police officers, Ministers are being named in the ACB report and the state government allegedly wanted to protect the powerful politicians. UNI
