HC permits protests at Indira Park Dharna Chowk

Hyderabad: Giving shock to the TRS State government, the High Court today directed that the political parties can continue their protests for six weeks at Dharna Chowk near Indira Park.

Reacting on a complaint filed by Congress leader V Hanmanth Rao and Prof. PL Vishweshwar Rao, the High Court directed the State government to lift the ban for six weeks. The court snubbed the government for the ban on the protests citing that any one can stage protests in democracy. In an interim relief, the court stayed the reported orders of the State government banning protests and dharnas at Dharna Chowk.

Giving six weeks time for organizing protests by any political parties or peoples organizations or others, the High Court said it will review the situation after six weeks. The protests can be taken up by taking prior permission of police department the court directed in the orders issued.
