Hyderabad: After the bifurcation of AP, questions are being asked to redefine local status in AP and Telangana states.
A student who studied in Hyderabad but belongs to AP area had filed a petition in Hyderabad High Court complaining that the authorities of Andhra University are not treating her as a local candidate in AP State for her admission into MBBS Course.
A division bench of Hyderabad High Court comprising Justice Rama Subramanian and Justice Anis directed Govt. of AP and the officials of the Dept. of Higher Education to frame comprehensive guidelines within 14 days to define local status in order to streamline admissions in colleges and universities in AP State.
