Allahabad High Court today issued notice to Uttar Pradesh minister of state for silk and handlooms Mahboob Ali for making an announcement in Jyotiba Phule Nagar district to fix the rate of Buffalo meat at Rs 70 per kg.
The court has also sought detailed report on the matter from the district administration too.
A division bench of the court comprising Justice Amitabh Lala and P K S Baghel were hearing a petition filed by the Quereshi community who challenged that the minister of state for silk and handlooms has no power to control the price of meat.
They claimed that the announcement of the minister was illegal and it was violation of the trade practises.
The Quereshi community is agitated over the announcement of the minister as the people are forcing the meat sellers to sell their product at Rs 70 per kilogram.
The court has fixed May 2 as the next date of hearing in the case.
