HC moved against Million March

Hyderabad, March 06: A Person hailing from Warangal filed a petition in the High Court yesterday, seeking denial of permission to the Telangana Joint Action Committee to organise Million March to Hyderabad on March 10 on the ground that it clashes with the Intermediate examinations.

The High Court ordered the state government to file its response by March 8.

The petition was filed by S Chakrapani, a resident of Warangal district. He contended that lakhs of Intermediate students are supposed to take their examination on March 10.

A march by a million people can adversely impact students’ preparation for their examinations, he argued.

PV Krishnaiah, the counsel for the petitioner, informed the court that some political parties had been urging the government to postpone the Intermediate examinations in view of the Million March. “But no political party has the right to demand postponement of Intermediate exams. This will affect the fundamental rights of the students,’’ Krishnaiah said. He also brought it to the notice of the judge that teachers were conducting non-cooperation movement.

The court asked the government to respond to the petition by March 8. It also served notices to Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) and Telangana NGOs.
