Hyderabad, December 30: Justice T Gopalakrishna of the High Court today interdicted repeat telecast of incidents of violence and harsh language by the vernacular media. The order would include telecast of incidents of violence, abusive speeches and events in the course of the daily newscasts and features.
The judge was hearing a writ petition filed by VVSS Kameshwar Rao, a practising advocate, complaining that such telecasts were opposed to public interest.
The petitioner complained that television channels were guilty of repeatedly telecasting news and features which aroused public anger in the context of the ongoing agitation, and sought a direction that a writ be issued even against crime teleserials and stories in praise of violence.
