HC to hear plea against Amitabh starrer ‘Bhootnath Returns’

The Delhi High Court today agreed to hear tomorrow a plea of a Hindi writer against Amitabh Bachchan-starrer horror comedy film ‘Bhootnath Returns’ claiming that the flick is based on his literary works.

A bench comprising acting Chief Justice B D Ahmed and Justice Siddharth Mridul ordered the listing of the appeal for hearing tomorrow after the counsel for Sushant Supriya, Hindi short story writer and poet, said the film, scheduled to hit theatres across the country on April 11, is based on his work.

“The single judge bench has issued the notice on my petition,” senior advocate Pratibha Maninder Singh, appearing for the writer, said, adding that however, the release of the movie has not been stalled and it would cause irreparable damage to the writer.

The writer came to know about the film on February 26 when the theatrical trailer was released, she said.

‘Bhoothnath Returns’, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is a horror comedy film and is a sequel of 2008 flick Bhoothnath.

The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Ravi Chopra and co-produced by Ajay Kapoor.

Besides Bachchan, Boman Irani and Shahrukh Khan are in supporting roles.

The film also has a cameo appearance of Ranbir Kapoor.
