Mumbai, December 18: The Bombay high court on Thursday handed over the investigation of actor Kunal Singh unnatural death to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and directed the agency to submit its first report in three months.
Kunal was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his Oshiwara apartment on February 6, 2008. His friend and fellow actor, Lavina Bhatia, who was in the flat at the time of the incident had told the police that she had gone to the bathroom, and had found Kunal hanging from the ceiling fan when she came out.
Oshiwara police too had believed this theory and had registered a case of suicide.
Pointing out lapses in the police investigation, Manoj Mohite, counsel for Rajendra Singh, Kunal’s father, had sought CBI investigation.
