HC grants bail to Somasekhara Reddy

The High Court here on Monday granted conditional bail to Somasekhara Reddy, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody in connection with his alleged involvement in what is known as “Money for Bail” scam of former minister of Karnataka and Obulapuram Mines Company owner Gali Janardhana Reddy.

In the bail order, the High Court has directed the accused (Somasekhara Reddy) to furnish two sureties of Rs one lakh personal bonds, not to leave the country and to surrender his passport to the ACB Special Court.

It may be mentioned here that Somasekhara Reddy had already been granted conditional bail in the CC No. 8. The High Court granted conditional bail to the undertrial on Monday in connection with the CC no, 9. Somasekhara Reddy is likely to be released from the Charlapalli Central Jail any moment as he was granted bail in both the cases registered against him. It is pertinent to note that other accused in the case — Dasharatharami Reddy, former judge Pattabhi Rama Rao and his son Ravichandra were released on bail earlier.
