Bangalore, August 17: The Karnataka High Court today declined to issue any directive to the state government on containing swine flu, which has claimed five lives so far, saying it could only repose confidence in the government to take all urgent effective steps to control the situation.
The court disposed off a Public Interest Litigation filed by an advocate, who prayed for a direction to ensure and enlist the services of private medical hospitals to render medical services to the flu affected persons.
A division bench, comprising of Chief Justice P D Dinakaran and Justice V G Sabhahit, after hearing counsel for the petitioner, S Vasudeva, and the government advocate, took on record the guidelines and action taken by the government.
The judges observed that the court could only repose confidence in the government to take all urgent effective steps to control the situation and provide best available treatment to the affected and also prevent the same through steps, including taking assistance of private hospitals.
