HC to decide on ownership of Ramjanmabhumi

Lucknow, July 07: The Babri Masjid demolition has come to haunt the BJP yet again. The matter will be taken up in the Allahabad High Court on Tuesday.

The court had earlier ordered the Uttar Pradesh government to submit the title deed relating to the disputed land.

The state chief secretary and the principal secretary (Home) will also depose in court on Tuesday. The court hearing comes in the wake of Justice Liberhan submitting his report after a 17-year-long probe.

The Babri Masjid demolition ceased to be an issue in 1993 when the BJP was trounced in the state elections in Uttar Pradesh and other states in the Hindi heartland.

The controversial move at the time was seen by the party as a master move to bring it to power through communal politics.

The key figures that are reportedly to come under the scanner after the unearthing of the Liberhan report should be Lal Krishna Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Kalyan Singh and Uma Bharti.

The then Congress’s Narasimha Rao government was also blamed for ‘sleeping’ through the entire demolition. It has been accused of inaction.

Who or what instigated the kar sevaks to demolish the mosque is yet to be seen, as the issue should now be unravelled.
