HC Bifurcation: TRS MPs protest at Jantar Mantar

The protest demanding the bifurcation of High Court found resonance in New Delhi on Friday, with a group of law students staging a sit in at Jantar Manatar in New Delhi. Later, TRS MPs joined the students and extended their support to the protesting students.

TRS MPs D.Srinivas, Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, B.B Patil, Sitharam Naik and K. Prabhakar Reddy extended solidarity to the law students’ protest and raised slogans demanding the division of the High Court.

The TRS MPs accused the Centre of adopting delaying tactics despite repeated appeals by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on the issue. The TRS had time and again raised the issue in Parliament, though the Centre was still buying time, they said.

Despite witnessing all the obstacles and the protests by the judicial officials, the Centre is least bothered about solving such an important issue concerning two states, the MPs added.  They accused the AP Government of misleading the Centre over the issue and delaying the division of the High Court. They found fault with AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and alleged that he was confused and lacked clarity on the issue.

The MPs demanded the Governor of both the States to take the issue with the Centre and urged the Union government to bifurcated the High Court at the earliest. (INN)
