HC asks police to return passport to shoaib malik

Hyderabad, April 19:The High Court of Andhra Pradesh, on Monday, directed the Hyderabad City Police to return Passport to the Pakistani cricketer, Mr Shoaib Malik, who got married to Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza.

It may be mentioned here that Mr Shoaib’s Passport was impounded by the Hyderabad Police following an FIR registered against him on the basis of a complaint lodged by Ayesha Siddiqui. The police have already closed the case against Shoaib and dropped all charges after Ayesha withdrew her complaint against Shoaib. Ayesha had withdrawn her complaint after a compromise was reached between the two following which Shoaib had divorced Ayesha to settle the dispute. The divorce also paved the way for Shoaib’s marriage with Indian tennis star Sania Mirza, which took place on April 12.

The Pakistani cricketer approached the High Court and pleaded for directing the Hyderabad city police to return his Passport.

When the Central Crime Station (CCS) police, who were investigating the case, submitted to the court that the cases filed against Mr Shoaib were dropped, the High

Court directed the police to immediately return the Passport to the Pakistani cricketer. However, Mr Shoaib was yet to get back his passport as the police had by then deposited the Passport in court. Shoaib has been waiting for his passport to return to Pakistan with his newly-wedded wife.

With the court’s verdict, the decks have now been cleared for the grand reception that awaits the couple in Lahore. (NSS)
